Catherine O’Reilly
PHYSIOTHERAPIST BA.APP.SC (PHYSIOTHERAPY)
Cath has been a physiotherapist for over 30 years. Born and bred on the Northern Beaches her interest in helping improve the quality of other people’s lives in the community commenced in high school in Year 9 when she first decided she wanted to pursue a career in physiotherapy. She completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiotherapy at Cumberland College, Sydney (Sydney Uni) in 1989 and then worked in hospitals and private practices both in Australia and overseas. Cath’s work focused mainly on her areas of interest in orthopaedics and musculoskeletal outpatients.
Proudly serving the Northern Beaches Community since 1995 in private practice, more recently in Freshwater and currently in Curl Curl. It has been said that “a physiotherapist has the brain of a scientist, the heart of a humanist and the hands of an artist”. Cath’s strengths lie in her passion for problem solving, her tenacity and persistence in working out the cause of an individual’s pain/injury, her focused hands-on treatments, and her implementation of individualised programs to promote continued progress and results.
Cath has worked with elite athletes, working at the Sydney 2000 Olympics in swimming and diving and assisting local rugby organisations take care of their player’s injuries and liaising with coaches/managers to gain the best performance from the team. The skills learnt working within these groups have enhanced Cath’s clinic work in private practice. In the clinic Cath enjoys working with clients ranging from children to the elderly, treating both acute and chronic injuries. She loves the variety of injuries that she sees from neck and back pain, ankle sprains, calf or hamstring tears, post-op rehabilitation or postural dysfunction to name a few.
It is the interaction with her clients, the listening, the conversation, and the problem solving that keeps Cath driven in the field of physiotherapy and helping others in the community. Cath aims to exceed expectations and provide a service that clients recommend to family and friends, that specialists refer to and employees are proud of.
Outside of her work as a physiotherapist Cath is often found walking the magic coastline between Manly and Curl Curl. She loves spending time with family and friends, and we can’t forget to mention her lifelong passion for exploring and travelling.
